QUEST MECHANICS for museums and educational spaces. EDUQUEST — interactive educational quests

The development of educational quests in the edutainment paradigm (education through entertainment and play) is one of the areas of our activity. What is the difference between passing an educational museum quest and an ordinary quest in a shopping and entertainment center? The museum quest is ideologically connected with the collection and the topic of the main exhibition, and all information is carefully checked and adjusted with scientific experts.

Quest mechanics actively uses a visitor’s cognitive skills and generates interest in research and training. The result of the quest is new knowledge gained through a series of riddles and tasks performed in the form of phygital installations (combining mechanical and digital solutions) equipped with visual infographics.

In 2020, we developed a special product — an interactive educational quest container “Journey to the Dinosaurs”. In a standard 20-foot container, we created an exciting and informative adventure, during which participants learn a lot of interesting information about the history of the dinosaur and the science of paleontology.

The scientific expert of the project is a paleontologist Pavel Skuchas, Doctor of Biological Sciences, a researcher of St. Petersburg State University, the author of many publications and studies. For each project, we are looking for a scientific expert (often he is in the customer’s working group) to be sure that the broadcast information will be reliable.

During the execution of each task, the visitor receives scientifically valid knowledge on the following topics:

  1. WHEN THE DINOSAURS LIVED: Earth history, geological periods, extinction concepts
  2. WHO ARE DINOSAURS: species, nutrition, habitat
  3. EVOLUTION: what is evolution? ancestors and descendants
  4. SCIENCE. PALEONTOLOGY: habitats, areas of study
  5. SCIENCE. PALEONTOLOGY: research methods, Related sciences (physics, chemistry, biology)
  6. CULTURAL TRAIL: cinema, animation, art, creativity and fantasies

Visitors solve six riddles (in any order), corresponding to six topics, after each task they receive a key. In the end, having collected all the keys, you can start the final installation — “Time Machine”, having made a journey from the world of dinosaurs today, having passed the path of evolution.
The educational exposition consists of scenery, mechanical solutions, graphics and multimedia content.

If you want to implement similar solutions in your museum (the subject can be varied, as well as the content) — we are waiting for your letters and answers!
